Fast & Furious 9 (F9) is just a day away from hitting theatres in the United States, and we're as eager as the cast. The picture, which stars Vin Diesel, John Cena, and others, will be released in the United States. Will it, however, be able to outperform A Quiet Place 2 and Godzilla vs Kong? Let's take a closer look to see how the competition is doing.
A Quiet Place 2 and Godzilla versus Kong are two of Hollywood's most successful pictures since the reopening of theatres. They're way ahead of the pack in the first weekend charts. Yes, Vin Diesel's Fast & Furious franchise is set to have the finest start in the post-pandemic era.
In terms of domestic box office, A Quiet Place grossed $57.1 million over the Memorial Day weekend in the United States and the United Kingdom. Variety reports that Godzilla vs Kong is in second place with $48.1 million. Cruella de Vil comes in third place with $26.5 million, but it's not in the competition. It's all about F9 vs. the first two place finishers.
According to trade estimates, F9 is generating far more buzz than any prior release. It will also be released in roughly 4,000 theatres, making it the most widely distributed film in the post-pandemic era. During the first weekend, a minimum of $60 is predicted, so it won't be surprising if the biggest start wins first place.
Meanwhile, according to Box Office Mojo, Fast & Furious 9 has grossed $292.4 million globally.
