The first is that villains are more engaging than hero characters which are mostly boring." Tom Hardy further said, "The thought of going to work every day and out to play an actor who is boring and mindless fills me up with fear, which is why I'm not bothered."



The Peaky Blinders actor also cited another reason for why he favors heroes over villains. "Another aspect is that as a child, I recall being scared often -- of being tiny and thin and vulnerable, and feeling like I was a target to be preyed on easily. Thus, everything I do is what scares me."
