Filmfare interviewed Shah Rukh Khan about his debut film, "Deewana". He said that he was glad that the film did so well, but that he didn't believe he contributed to its success. My performance was loud, vulgar, and uncontrolled. I was terrible and I am fully responsible for my actions. This is what happens when you don't have a graph. I didn't have the script. The film was supposed to begin much later than I had planned. However, other commitments got cancelled so I assigned my dates for this film. I am my worst critic, and I was shocked to see myself on the film. It's amazing to see people like me in the movie. Maybe it's because I am new to the film. I don't want to see it again.

Shah Rukh Khan gave credit to the music for Deewana’s success, saying: "Of course. People wish they could say that the film's music was better than Shah Rukh's, but in Deewana, music won. Raj Kanwar, the director of Deewana, deserves credit for his song picturization. Rishi Bhai gave a great performance, as did Divya Baharti, Deven Verma, and Amrish puri. Nadeem Shravan will be the reason that the film is still remembered. Many films have run because of their music. I would love to be in their shoes - as successful as they are as music directors.
