Russel traveled to India almost a decade ago to promote Speedy Singhs, an Indo-Canadian movie. Ajay Vimani co-produced the film. Akshay Kumar played a key role. The comedian revealed that he dislikes Bollywood during a media meeting and made fun of Miss World and her pregnancy. Pinkvilla reported that Russell Peters made a scathing dig at Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in 2011 when he was asked why he hates Bollywood. While interacting with media, the comedian said that he hates Bollywood. The movies are just horrible. This is my opinion. There are millions who love and like them. I don't enjoy all the dancing, singing, and dramatic crying. I have never seen a Bollywood movie in my entire life. It was something I refused to do and one that I will continue to do. I do hope that some filmmakers will take the chance to make real movies."


Russell Peters said that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was only someone with a "pretty face", and added, "Aishwarya's the worst example of bad acting." It has been proven time and again that Bollywood stars can be made by just having beautiful faces." Russell Peters continued, "Aishwarya is the biggest example of bad acting." He also made an insensitive comment about her pregnancy. He stated, "She hasn’t become a more talented actor." Isn't she still beautiful? Bravo, Abhishek (Bachchan), for finally getting her up.




His comments earned him the ire of many of the actress's supporters, women's rights activists and people from the entertainment industry. Russell Peters was asked to apologise for his sexist comments about Aishwarya Rai Bchan. He did not. According to reports, Akshay Kumar was the one who apologized for Russell Peters' tasteless comments on Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Russell's comments were even retracted by AjayVirmani, the film's coproducer.
