Some court documents that have recently been unearthed show that Johnny Depp was left by Betty Sue Depp as a teenager while discussing his past. According to reports, 1981 court papers that were part of the court archives claimed that Depp's son was "emancipated" and self-supporting.

According to Page Six, the court papers are the divorce papers of Betty Sue (John Depp II) and stated that "The wife acknowledges that the parties’ minor child... John C. Depp II has fully emancipated, self-supporting." Paul Barresi, an Hollywood fixer, discovered the papers while researching Discovery+'s new series "Johnny Depp V Amber Heard."

Barresi stated that Depp was having trouble coping with drug and family problems. He stated, "Needless, Johnny at 17 was not financially self-sufficient and far from being emancipated." His mother divorced him when he was most in need of her." Paul said, "There's no record that he ever been legally emancipated."

Johnny Depp commented recently that Hollywood was "boycotting him" after his legal battle against Amber Heard and the libel wars with the British tabloid.
