It was Kareena’s rumoured demand of 12 crores for Sita’s role which grabbed maximum media attention.

Kareena's name was attached to a film based upon Ramayan. This drew the ire of some religious extremists. On Twitter, we even saw trending topics like "Boycott Kareena". Other than all this, the media attention was dominated by Kareena’s rumoured 12 crores demand for Sita’s role. Some people responded to the news by saying Kareena Khan Khan was asking too much for a job. Taapsee has now spoken out on the matter.

Taapsee Pannu, in a conversation with Bollywood Bubble, responded to Kareena Khan's rumoured fee request by saying that "If it had been a man who was in that position, people would have said, "Iski market gayi hai" (His market value is increasing). This guy is a great success. It is always like this. This issue of a rise in women's salaries will be discussed every day.

Taapsee Pannu said, "She's one of the most popular female stars in the country." It's her job to demand a certain amount of salary. Are you sure that they aren't paid for their work, just like the mythological characters played by men? It's not my opinion. It's when a woman increases her salary that people label her "problematic". It's a success indicator when it's for a man.

It is interesting to note that KV Vijayendra Prasad, the legendary writer, clarified that Kareena Khan had not been approached for the film.
