Squid Game Finally Beats Bridgerton Creating History With 111 Million Views

After almost a month since it was aired, Netflix's Squid Game has become the biggest launch in the streaming service's history.

Squid Game has officially become the most watched series on Netflix. This South Korean drama was released on September 17th, and within a mere month, it's gained many million viewers and has been trending across more than 90 countries in just two weeks. The show has made a huge contribution to Korean popular culture across the world. Its popularity with viewers is due to the show's universal message of class discrimination and its excellent production.

The show follows the story of a group comprising around 400 people deeply in debt. The people who are recruited are an unknown group of disguised men who play six games for the children of those individuals to participate in. It also brings a death-and-life twist to the games based on the winner and loser.


In the nearly one month since it first broadcast in the Netflix channel, Netflix's Squid Game has become the most watched stream's past. The report said that the show has 111 million people watching it, far exceeding the 82 million who watched Bridgerton during the show's initial 28 days.


It's not just that, but Squid Game is also at the number. number 1 spot among the Netflix Top 10 list in 94 countries. And according to CNN that it is an original South Korean show to own the first show on the United States. With 111 million viewers and more than 50% of Netflix viewers are tuning into the show, as the show has 209 million viewers.



It's impressive to watch an South Korean show with no significant big name become popular around the world. But, the path to this achievement hasn't always been smooth.



It was discovered that the director of the show Hwang Dong-hyuk penned the story in 2009 and was faced with several rejections before being chosen. In addition, Hwang was also forced to sell his laptop worth $675 because of financial difficulties.
