Scarlett Johansson’s Lawyer Slams Disney After Studio Seeks Arbitration In Black Widow Lawsuit

If you are not aware somehow, Scarlett has sued Disney over the release of Black Widow.


The battle between Scarlett Johansson, Disney and Black Widow is not likely to end anytime soon. However, if the House Of Mouse's latest move is to be considered, they want it to stop being headlines and have filed a motion to arbitrate. The studio is determined to keep the fight behind closed doors. Johansson's rep even responded to the same.

Scarlett sued Disney for Black Widow's release, if you don't know. According to the lawsuit, Natasha Romanoff of fame sued Disney for violating her contract which stated that the movie would only be released in theatres. The film was released simultaneously on Disney Plus, which has caused the actor losses. Disney wants to remove the discussion from the public's eye.

They have filed a new motion and asked for arbitration. They even said the actor should have named Marvel in her lawsuit but ended up naming the parent company Disney. Continue reading to find out what Scarlett Johansson, her lawyer, has to say about this.

According to Deadline, Scarlett Johansson’s lawyer John Berlinski stated that Disney had initially responded to the litigation with a misogynistic attack on Scarlett Johansson. Now, Disney is, predictably trying to conceal its misconduct in a confidential arbitral.

Scarlett Johansson asked, "Why is Disney so afraid to litigate this case in public?" Scarlett Johansson replied, "Because it knew that Marvel's promises that Black Widow would be a typical theatrical production 'like its other movies' had everything do with guaranteeing Disney wouldn't cannibalize ticket sales in order to boost Disney+ subscribers."

As per Disney, Marvel's contract with Scarlett Johansson provides for arbitration if a dispute like this arises. John Berlinski replied to that, "Yet that's exactly what happened – and we look forward to presenting overwhelming evidence to prove it."
