Saira Banu’s Heart Condition Is Stable Now, To Be Out Of ICU Today

Saira Banu, a veteran Bollywood actress from yesteryears, was admitted to Hinduja Hospital to treat a heart condition called ischemia. However, she is stable now, according to her doctor.

Saira Banu (77), the widow of famous actor Yusuf Khan alias Dilip K was taken to Khar's ICU three days ago.

According to Dr. Nitin S. Gokhale, a renowned cardiologist who is treating her, her left ventricle had stopped working and caused water ingress into her heart and lungs.

"The problem is under control now, and she's now in a much better medical condition." Gokhale said that we will move her from the ICU tomorrow (Thursday), and then determine further steps."

She began her acting career in 1961 as a teenager with the movie "Junglee". She went on to be one of the most prominent heroines of the 1960s-1970s, working alongside the best actors and starring in some of the greatest films.

In the past few years, she earned legions of admirers for the manner in which she stood by and cared for her husband Dilip Kumar who was ailing for several years before he passed away on July 7 aged 98.
