According to aceshowbiz.com, the filmmaker revealed that one of his favorite parts of the film was the part where Leonardo DiCaprio's characters Rick Dalton (played by Julia Butters) have an emotional phone conversation.

"That was my favorite scene in the script. It was impossible to imagine that this scene would not be in the movie. "That was my favorite scene in the script," Quentin Tarantino stated on CinemaBlend’s RelBlend podcast.

"I believe it was Leo's favorite scene that he ever shot. We were both in tears. It was the first time. Every once in a while, I get misty-eyed when I am shooting this scene against that scene. Julia (Butters), on the other hand, was in tears each time we completed every take. Quentin Tarantino said that we were proud of the sequence.

Tarantino loved this scene but said it didn’t fit in.

"It's not in this film because it's a double-fold one. It looks like the ending of the movie. This was actually a good thing in the script. I had originally viewed everything that happened in February as a part of a three-act structure. The epilogue is the stuff that happened on the night of murder. Quentin Tarantino stated that this was the wrong way of thinking about it.

"Once we began putting together the movie, the stuff that takes place in August wasn't an epilogue. It's the third act. It's the third act. He recalled that they had pulled off the scene.
