Netflix bought Money Heist for $2 when the show flopped in Spain.


Money Heist Season 5 is undoubtedly the most anticipated thing not only in the Hollywood circle or Spain, but all over the world, thanks to Netflix. This was not the case when Netflix bought the show. The show, then known as La Casa de Papel, was a huge failure and was eventually scrapped. Netflix was born.

It was the fate of the show. Everyone involved found out. The show became a worldwide sensation after it was renamed Money Heist. Did you know? Netflix purchased La Casa de Papel at a price of $2. Seriesholic said that a screenwriter for the show, talking about Money Heist, also known as La Casa de Papel and its failure, stated, "Contrary what it appears, the life story of the series is the tale of a failure." Antena 3 reduced the number of chapters. The series managed to maintain decent numbers, but not exceptional. It was not a pleasant feeling and I was already thinking of the next projects by the producer."

He then went on to say that cast members had found other jobs and it was quite surprising when their social media followers exploded. Netflix bought the show, which had been cancelled in Spain three months prior for only two dollars. The show was distributed without promotion and became number one in the world within two weeks," said the screenwriter.

Money Heist Vol 1 will be released on September 3rd, and Vol 2 on December 3rd.
