Money Heist Actor Enrique Arce On His Character Arturo: “I Think He’s Comic Relief"

Enrique Arce plays Arturo on all five seasons of "Money Heist", also known as "La Casa De Papel", and has spoken out about his character. He is described as a narcissist who believes himself to be a hero.

Arce shared his opinion about Arturo Roman being the most hated character by fans in an interview with IANS.

"Do you think he's a good actor?" "He's one those characters... I'm not saying it as Enrique and there are no egos involved but I think this character is one that people would rather like than hate if they watched it again after the five seasons have ended and it has been over two years." Enrique Arce stated.

"When they get the emotional distance, I think they'll say that he was funny ..."

Enrique Arce, 48 years old actor, said that his character provides "comic relief".

"I don't think Arturo is precisely necessary for the show... I think he's comic relief, it comes from the old theatre. It's a common role in theatre .

Enrique Arce said: "But this character people won't say 'I don’t hate him actually'. Give it some time. You can hate me right now and one year later, you'll be able to say that you kind of like him.

"Money Heist," originally intended to be a series of two episodes, was only limited in scope. It aired its first 15 episodes on Spanish television network Antena. Netflix acquired global streaming rights in late 2017. It was the most-watched Netflix series in non-English languages by 2018, and the number one overall.

It won several awards, including the International Emmy Award in Best Drama Series at 46th International Emmy Awards. It was a worldwide hit when the anti-fascist Italian song "Bella ciao" played multiple times throughout the series.

Why did the show become so popular?

"I believe this show has a lot word of mouth which means that people tell their parents, friends and loved ones 'you know, I watched this show it was amazing and it was fantastic'. That I believe was the main cause. Then it is my understanding that social media is to blame.

Enrique Arce also spoke about how Neymar and Paulo Coelho said great things about the show which helped to grab attention.

Arce shared the belief that "Money Heist", while a fictional show, was also an emotionally charged show with a wide range of possibilities.
