Gusciora posted on Facebook that Sarah Dash, Trenton's first music ambassador and resident legend, had died, according to deadline.com.

Trenton native Dash was the co-founders of Patti LaBelle, and The Bluebelles. These opened for The Rolling Stones during the 1960s.

LaBelle and Dash formed the pioneering R&B/rock band LaBelle, which was musically and sartorially more adventurous than its predecessor.

The band reached its peak in mid-seventies when "Lady Marmalade," the group's hit song, reached number one on Billboard Hot 100 charts.

It reached the top again after being re-recorded by Ma, Pink, and Lil' Kim for the soundtrack to 'Moulin Rouge!

After his work with The Stones', Dash also appeared in The Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, 1978.

Grammy winner LaBelle shared a tribute on Twitter to her friend and collaborator, saying that they had just performed together this weekend.

LaBelle wrote, "We were just onstage together on Saturday and that was such a powerful moment."

Further, the post reads: "Sarah Dash, an amazingly talented, beautiful and loving soul, blessed my life, and that of so many others in so many ways that I cannot even begin to describe.

"And I knew that she would always be there for me!" Sarah was a loyal friend and a voice for all who did not have one.

It concluded by saying, "I am heartbroken...Rest in strength, my dear sister."
