While stars like Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio took years to win the Oscar, Johnny Depp stated in a 2015 interview that he wasn't as enthusiastic about it as others. For the uninitiated, Leo made his film debut in 1991 and has since gone on to star in films such as Titanic, Inception, The Wolf of Wall Street, and others. He did not win an Academy Award until 2015 for his portrayal in The Revenant. Brad, too, had to wait a long time to earn an Academy Award. Pitt won the prized award for his work in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, following stellar performances in films such as 12 Monkeys, Fight Club, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, and others (2019).

While each of these actors has received an Academy Award, Johnny Depp, who debuted in 1984, has yet to get one. He, on the other hand, isn't keen on it. Depp was asked about winning an Oscar during the opening of Black Mass at the London Film Festival in 2015. “I don't want to win one of those things ever, you know,” the Pirates of the Caribbean actor told the BBC.

When asked why he didn't want to accept the Academy Award, Johnny Depp stated, "I don't want to have to talk." While this comment may not make complete sense now, it should be recalled that Depp's speech at the Hollywood Film Awards (2014) was widely criticized a short time before he delivered it.

“The idea of winning means that you're in competition with someone, and I'm not in competition with anybody,” Johnny said in the same debate about winning an Oscar. While the Edward Scissorhands star revealed he had gotten 2-3 Academy Award nominations, he added, "A nomination is aplenty."
