Halsey used Instagram to announce the release of her new album. She wrote a powerful caption:

"If I can't have love, I want power"

This is a concept album that explores the joys and tragedies of childbirth and pregnancy. The cover art should convey the emotion of my past months. The paradox of the Madonna/the Whore. Both the idea of me as a sexual being, and my body as a gift and vessel to my child can co-exist peacefully. Over the years my body has been given to the world in many ways. This image is my way of reclaiming autonomy and establishing pride and strength as a life force and source of joy for my human being.

This cover image shows pregnant and postpartum women as beautiful and worthy to be admired. There is still a lot of work to be done in order to eradicate the stigma surrounding breastfeeding and bodies. This is a small step in the right direction, I hope!

My fourth album is out August 27, 2021.
