Dwayne Johnson Makes His Rap Debut With The Single ‘Face Off’

The single is a part of Tech N9ne's new album, 'ASIN9NE', produced by his studio label, Strange Music. It also features Joey Cool and King Iso.


According to the press release, it's collaboration with "the most popular independent rapper in hip-hop as well as the biggest actor on the A-list on the planet in Hollywood", Dwayne Johnson known as The Rock has successfully made his debut as a rapper. He did it by releasing the hit single 'Face Off' which was recorded by Aaron Dontez Yates, aka Tech N9ne.

The single is component of the Tech N9ne's latest album, "ASIN9NE" released by his label Strange Music. The track also includes Joey Cool and King Iso.


In announcing the move that Variety.com describes as an "history-making career change" the actor, wrestler and maker of tequila posted via Instagram: "Grateful and humbled to have my first rap performance with these hip-hop royalty as I was trying to create the right rhythm, flow energy, and intensity that didn't go over the top." In another blog post, Dwayne Johnson exulted: "And I'm enjoying all your enthusiasm and excitement over the track!"


Tech N9ne and Dwayne Johnson have been friends for a while back. "A big admirer of the rapper's independent style, Johnson, who is the most followed American in the world is posting Tech N9ne's music to his social networks for years," Variety.com reported.


Dwayne Johnson's first encounter to music came when he was featured on the song of his friend, Haitian Wyclef Jean's track 'It Doesn't Matter'. The song's title was taken from Johnson's most-loved catchy phrase, which he screamed throughout the track however, he didn't rap.
