Farhan and Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra are an incredible duo. They are ready to inspire with Toofaan after a masterwork like Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. Farhan and Mehra have a great working relationship, which is evident in the film's package. You might be surprised to learn that Toofaan could have been their third collaboration, and not their second. You read that correctly! Rang De Basanti was originally approached to the actor.

Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra shared with us that he initially approached Farhan Akhtar to help him with Rang De Basanti. Mehra had originally asked him to play the role of Karan. The role was eventually given to Siddharth. Farhan wasn't interested in acting at the time and was only concerned with direction.

Mehra told PTI that Farhan Akhtar was amused as he was just finishing Dil Chahta Hai and was about to finish Lakshya. He couldn't believe that I asked him to play in my film.

"I had offered him Karan's part, which was the only author-backed role in the entire film. Farhan was astonished. I could see the twinkle in Farhan's eyes. He asked, "What's the matter with this guy seeing me in a movie?" Mehra agreed.

The duo's next album, Toofaan, will be released on Amazon Prime Video on the 16th of July 2021.
