TLLF, a non-profit organization dealing with mental health issues, is well-known. Deepika is the founder of TLLF and has been running it since 2015. She tries to normalize mental illness like any other. She also sells clothing from her closet to raise money for the charity.
Recently, a netizen highlighted the fact that Deepika Padukone was selling clothes she wore to funeral events in 2013. A white short kurta that she wore to Jiah Khan's condolence meet to a white long kurta she wore at Priyanka Chopra dad's prayer meet - everything's on auction.
"I am shocked.. Deepika Padukone, my favorite, has sold her non-couture clothes from 2013. I'm repeating 2013 she wore to various funeral events. The user wrote, "Low blow!"
Not only that, but there were also proofs in the thread that showed that the clothes belonged to the event. It is not legal to auction cloth you wore at a funeral. Deepika's act has disappointed many.
Many people took to the comments section to voice their opinions.
One user wrote: "OMG !!!! These people can fall so low!
They'll swallow any money! Every now and again, middle-class people give away clothes. We are also sensitive to what clothes we give away, their condition, and whether or not they are new. Another wrote that India is able to survive on its taxes and its charities.
One user tweeted: "We don’t give even slightly worn out clothes to maids. We may not be as wealthy as them but we are certainly more respectable."
Do you think it is fair for Deepika Padukone to auction such clothes even in the name of charity?
