There is finally something for Bollywood to be proud of. It is now that Bollywood's magic of the big screen has returned after a five-month drought. There have been some biggies such as Bhuj: Pride of India, Sherahaah and Toofaan, which have all arrived on the OTT. Many of these could have been box office hits if they had been released in theatres. Bell Bottom was also tempted to be first to be released at OTT. However, it is now seeing a theatrical release which is a reason for celebration.

The Akshay Kumar starrer Bell Bottom has been promoted quite well by Pooja Films even though there was just a three week window. Just that brought back memories of the days when promotions and marketing were common for Bollywood films on an every other week basis. It's encouraging that awareness is growing and there are many theatre chains showing the film.
There are many factors that must be considered in order to make a realistic prediction about the box office's first day. Maharashtra is not yet open. There is a 50% occupancy rule. The release date is Thursday, instead of the regular Friday. Night shows are limited at some places. COVID has not been eliminated from all theatres. It is not yet known how the general public would react to a film's opening. While a film from the Punjabi region like Puaada is gaining popularity, Bell Bottom needs to gain traction across India.
It is good that the film made it to theatres. For those who are devoted to Bollywood, the film is now available for theatrical release. It is a great opportunity to have Akshay Kumar as the head of affairs in such a case.
All of the above factors being considered, Bell Bottom may not open in spite of all that is said.5-7 croresIt would be a good start to get things moving. There are still three days to go before the weekend, and sustenance/growth would be the key.
