'The Rapist' shared the award with Filipino filmmaker Brilliante Mendoza's boxing drama, 'Gensan Punch'.

Aparna Sen's social drama, "The Rapist", was named the joint winner for the Kim Jiseok award at the 26th Busan Inter Film Festival (BIFF), that concluded here on Friday. Variety.com describes it as "a gripping Indian social tragedy" and calls it one of the most important works by the veteran director and actress. It is about a middle-class Indian academic who wants to know why her rapist has committed such a terrible crime to her.
Variety.com says that "The Rapist", whose highlight is Konkona's performance, is "a deeply moving portrait of personal trauma, and an intelligent examination on social and cultural factors fueling India's horrifying prevalence of s*xual aggression in India."
Sameer Nair, who previously produced the web series'Scam 1992', has produced the film. Tanmay Dhanania plays the role of the rapist in this film.
The award went to 'The Rapist' along with Brilliante Mendoza's Filipino boxing drama, "Gensan Punch". The 'New Currents Section" winners were the Chinese film, 'Farewell, My Home Town,' (director Wang Er Zhuo), and the South Korean feature, 'The Apartment With Two Women,' (director Kim Sein).
