LA divorce attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan estimated that Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie had spent “hundreds of thousands of dollars, if not in the millions” on litigation already.

The ongoing custody and divorce case between Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie is a long-running one and doesn't appear to be ending soon. A family lawyer suggested that Pitt received joint custody of their children, except Maddox (19), but that Jolie could appeal to the Supreme Court. Keep reading for the Latest Hollywood News.

Recently, the Eternals star celebrated a small victory when she requested that Judge John W. Ouderkirk be removed from the case. He was the one who granted Pitt joint custody. The reason behind why Jolie sought his removal was owing to his previous relationship with Pitt's attorney Anne C. Kiley. According to a recent report, the case remains in the same place despite this win.

US Weekly spoke with Mark Vincent Kaplan, a Los Angeles divorce attorney. He discussed Angelina Jolie's messy divorce proceedings and custody battles as well as the amount of money that they continue to spend on litigations. Kaplan said that Mr & Mrs Smith's ex-lovers and co-stars had spent thousands, if not millions, on litigation. He said, "And it could increase if they start over."

Kaplan stated that a heated custody [dispute] is the most expensive. Both of these people are able to afford [keep litigating]. This is not the reason to do so, but it's unlikely to be a significant factor given their respective wealth.

Mark also stated that Angelina Jolie won't be able to get Judge John W. Ouderkirk removed in her case against Brad Pitt. She would still face a difficult battle. According to the attorney, "She still has an uphill struggle because now there's historical observation rather than future projection [of what the children are doing].

Brad Pitt has not been affected by Judge Ouderkirk's departure from the case. According to a spokesperson for Fight Club, the appeals court decision was based upon a technical procedural matter. These facts are unchanged. The judge and many of the experts who testified have gathered extraordinary evidence that led them to their conclusion regarding what is best for the children. Based on the specific findings about what is best for the children, we will continue to do legal work.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's case have been referred back to the Los Angeles Superior Court. Judge Ouderkirk has not been involved. This ruling could mean that the current custody arrangement for the ex-couple could be rescinded.
