Tomorrow Akshay's thriller about espionage will be released in select states where theatres are allowed to operate. The cinema halls will be operating at 50% occupancy, as well as following all COVID guidelines. Many filmmakers took a backseat during this time and are now waiting for normalcy. Akshay and his team took the initiative to help exhibitors.
Akshay Kumar has a simple number game for Bell Bottom when it comes to explaining the box office estimates. SpotboyE interviewed him about his view of the business during COVID times.
Akshay Kumar says, "Yes, it will be different because Maharashtra has 30% of all-India collection. I have only 70% (the rest) of the country, and it is expected to be only 50% occupancy. This means that I have only 35 percent of the collection, which would be possible if it were an all-Indian release. We can get 5 to 8 percent out of the 35 percent. This leaves me with around 27 percent. This is the likely business.
In this example, the movie's 30 crore gross would be equivalent to 100 million. It equals 150 million if the movie grosses 50 crore, assuming pre-pandemic conditions. He adds, "So that's it."
Directed by Ranjit Tiwari, Bell Bottom also stars Lara Dutta, Huma Qureshi and Vaani Kapoor in key roles.
